I like Apple as I’ve said. I like them in an Ikea liberal Starbucks group-sex hippie-commune single-parent kind-of-way. That’s the image they want to flog and it’s one I’ve subliminally said yes to. But we all know that you don’t get big in business without dancing with the devil.
Apple is no different and they are very quick to distance themselves from any potential dirt that may harm their precious image. Up until now that is as the English press has exposed the wicked way iPod’s are put together in China. Workers in the iPod factory work more than 60 hours a week a third of the time and for six consecutive days 25% of the time. All for peanuts. In simple terms Apple uses slave labour. And why not? Every other Western multinational does and that’s the price the world pays for European and American dominance. I mean we are so rich and powerful that there’s fuck all anyone can do about it right? Oh, and I wonder why those nasty poor guys are blowing up trains in London and flying planes into buildings? But anyway my point is this; there is no use fooling yourself that the brand you buy has any more conscience than any other, the world is so skewed in favour of the West that the rest, and majority, of world suffers and simply buying an iPod reinforces this imbalance. So now that Apple’s devious and brutal regime has been exposed I wonder if Bono will lead a campaign against this unfair and exploitative corporation ? I doubt it as there is an official U2 iPod signed by Bono and I don’t think he’d want to loose any money the hypocritical cunt.
Totally agree. Bono is one of the most damaging people to the issue of poverty in Africa. He serves the function of damage control and is the flag carrier of the free trade. For those who don’t know, there’s nothing free about free trade. Free trade is a mechanicsm of theft and transfer of wealth from the third world.
