False Media – we don’t need it do we?

Hypocrite

What’s the difference between one missile being fired and another? Nothing, one country decides to launch a test missile as does another. Seems pretty similar in my book so I must be a bit slow eh? Maybe someone could explain that if North Korea tests a missile it is breaking news and we are on the verge of WW3 but when the yanks test theirs it barely makes the news. Factually they are exactly the same set of circumstances but the world media has decided, or been told, that if county Y does one thing it’s bad but if country X does the same its OK. Is this like if county X has nuclear power and bombs then why can’t country Z? Seems to me county X has everything but doesn’t like others having the same because well they can’t be trusted can they? They may launch illegal invasions into countries like Iraq or Afghanistan and impose their own ways and regimes on the indigenous population regardless if they are wanted or not.

So why do we have this illusion of an impartial, balanced media? Compare the reports of the North Korean missile test with those of America a few days ago – tests that were barely noticed by the press. Look at the difference in imagry – North Korea is plasterd with Nuclear Symbols, shots of huge missiles and maps. The American report has one image that looks like a shot form E.T. or Close Encountes. It looks good actually like a good missile all soft and blue and glowing. I believe this is called subliminal influence. By the way the BBC are keen to point out that “world powers” have “condemned” the North Koreans – I guess Russia and China are not considered “world powers” as they didn’t exactly come out and condemn the missile. “World powers” must mean “world powers as defined by the US and European press”. In relation to the events of a few days ago I would have thought that a balanced reportage would read thus:

World powers have condemned the US for test-firing a series of missiles, including one thought capable of reaching North Korea. North Korea called the tests “provocative”, and urged a resumption of multilateral talks. Iran went on to announce a range of sanctions against Washington. The UN Security Council has held an emergency meeting on the crisis. The ambassadors of the Iran, North Korea and China said there had been widespread concern with not a single member of the council defending US actions. A draft resolution drawn up by Iran and North Korea is said to demand that Washington immediately stop the development, testing and deployment of ballistic missiles. It also calls on member states to prevent the transfer of resources, items and technology that could contribute to America’s missile programme. Experts are beginning discussion on the document but there is no indication when it may be passed by the council. The BBC’s Charles Scanlon in Washington says the US has been feeling under pressure and ignored in recent months, with the Iranians refusing to negotiate on its demands over its nuclear plans.

So you see that we do not have fair balanced journalism in this or any other “free” country. Personally I can live with that BUT be honest about it. If, in war the first casualty is the truth then right now we are at war.
