I think it may be one degrees warmer but I’m not sure. This wasn’t the deal Xiang Gang. It’s supposed to be WARM or even HOT. I can get all this in London. Stayed in Hong Kong all day with a potential trip to ShenZhen averted. AW is still bang on the money.

Thursday, January 31st, 2008Hip Hop Is Dead
Wednesday, January 30th, 2008Been listening this a lot recently. At first I was not too impressed as I had gone off Nas and was weighed down with prejudice. I find him smug and his rhymes don’t blow my mind like the did on Illmatic. Everything else has been an anti-climax. Hip Hop Is Dead has made me eat my words. Very good album with only a few false moves. I like the Chinese styled I already Know and Ain’t Going Back which is ill. Love the Kanye West Dreaming duet and Where Are They Now cataloging hip hop acts missing in action (I wonder how many of those listening to this know a)who Nas is talking about and b) own their records) Each track has something and it’s a grower make no mistaking pa. 8/10.
Wednesday
Wednesday, January 30th, 2008Early start at the office. Interviewed someone how was out of their depth and not suitable. First interview I have conducted and not too enjoyable but interesting to be on the other side of the table. Then a heavy meeting with a client that went on for yonks then back to Hong Kong at 4:30. No lunch. Raining and still cold although not as cold as recent days. Looking forward to sleeping in my own bed.
Tuesday
Tuesday, January 29th, 2008Early start in Shenzhen. Freezing cold as per expected. No heating in the usually humid south of China. At lunchtime I managed to ask a security guard, in Chinese, where the bank was. He understood and pointed. Not a big deal but a big deal for me. Slipped out of the hotel this evening for some food and found somewhere local and in walked my colleagues. Pure coincidence. We all had dinner and the food was great. Tofu and Egg plant in a Cantonese style. Managed to make some conversation in Chinese. It’s getting there slowly. I notice that Wuhan, Nanjing and Hefei are under a layer of snow. I hope I can get back to HK tomorrow.
Monday
Monday, January 28th, 2008Had a good day at work today. Things are positive on that front. Bought a heater. Hong Kong is freezing and I was toughing it out until CNY but cannot. It’s more than cold. No amount of jumpers can get rid of the sheer bitterness of the temperature. Will be in Shenzhen tomorrow night again.I have to pack my over night bag again. Another empty hotel room again.

Sunday, January 27th, 2008My wife called me to say our son had gastroesophageal reflux issues. He was puking a lot and she was taking him to the doctor. This has been going on for around a week. The problem is he is feeding to much so he pukes a lot and the answer is for him to eat less but he likes to suckle a lot. The answer? A dummy but it was objected to. To cut a long story short he now uses a dummy and feeds less. He is fine. We should stop panicking and no he doesn’t have gastroesophageal reflux disease. He is just greedy but we panic. We have panicked since he was first conceived and we will panic until the day we die. It’s going to be a long few decades I feel.
Days Of Ruin
Sunday, January 27th, 2008Copped this on Friday night after work in Wan Chai. Surprisingly hard to track own but got my copy for 230 HK dollars. Got pissed after work and had a wedding on Saturday so no real chance to play it until today. First impressions are OK. It plays the same as the previous AW games that we know and love but the Technicolor graphics are gone and it has become more serious in style. Most game sites say that is a good thing but I must be alone in liking the garish and naive style of the previous outings. I liked the innocence the Japanese developers had adopted when it came to war. Now that is gone. It will take time to get used to for sure but I can see another five or so years of gaming in this cart alone. Any AW is that good.
